Research and Analysis Services Available

If you have a family history research question, I can help by using both traditional genealogical research in the records as well as combining results from DNA testing to support both viewpoints to answer the question. My expertise in the records and with the use of DNA has been learned via many years of research as well as attending conferences and webinars to learn new methods.

Over the 48 years I have been researching my own family, I have seen a lot of change in the approaches to family research – from long trips to research in the records to a time when much of the information is now online for view from the comfort of a chair in my own home. The additional of DNA testing has been a game changer – allowing us to now understand if the records match the genetics. Confused by Your DNA Results

With the emergence of DNA testing, in particular Autosomal DNA testing additional information is available to assist with the proving of lineage and the validation that the paper trail corresponds to the biological aspect of the relationships. I tested early in hopes of breaking a particular brick wall – that wall is still standing, but many other relationships have been validated, and new ancestors have been found – along with a host of biological cousins I did not know I had.

During the process I have learned techniques and developed processes that have helped me unwind the literally tens of thousands cousin matches I have at the various testing sites. If you are struggling to make sense out of this and need help connecting the information to your family history research – I can help.

I have experience with the following testing sites, methods and tools.
